2017 - French-Quebecer workshop

3rd year of Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design

Each year, two French-Quebecer workshops take place, one in Quebec, and the other in France.

This year, Autograf students in 3rd year of Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design went to Montreal from January 14 to 22, 2017 to meet the Quebecer students from the CEGEP of St Jean sur Richelieu. Then came their turn to come to Autograf in Paris, from March 11 to 18, 2017.

To each workshop its city, theme and story!

Montreal

The workshop's assignment was to design the interior spaces of an innovative school. During the three days of the workshop, students worked on their concept, built up their project and models and presented them on the 3rd day to a jury.

During their week in Quebec, students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Montreal. They got to visit the construction site of Mies Van der Rohe, Habitat 67 by Moshe Safdie, the Geodesic Dome of the 1967 Universal Exposition, the Canadian Centre for Architecture, the Jean Talon Market, the Mile End Neighbourghood, etc as well as had an interesting encounter with Quebecer street art. Students also attended a conference organised by an architecture agency on the renovation of the Montreal Olympic Stadium.

Paris

The workshop's assignment was to work on the new Paris Ordener area's public spaces. This railway brownfield has been rehabilitated into a new Parisian neighbourghood as part of the Design Studio's vocational project for the Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design. The workshop's aim was to design outdoor public spaces as well as an indoor street.

Finally, the last days of the week were used as an opportunity for all students to visit the Savoye Villa (Le Corbusier) with a guide, in Poissy, the Cité Universitaire with a different guide, the Swiss and Brazilian pavilions (Le Corbusier), the Dutch College (Dudock), the Iranian House (Claude Parent), etc.
