Master’s Degree in Sustainable Design Management

Become a Team Manager & Supervisor in Sustainable Design.

Given the environmental crises we are facing nowadays, we ought to rethink the world we are inhabiting. Clearly, both Earth and indicators are greener when production & activity are better eco-handled.
It’s a fact – to keep our planet liveable, to avoid conflicts, limit crises and extreme disparity – we need to be more aware, thorough, altruistic, united. Also, we know that we need to find new ways to solve future issues and go beyond the classic living together speeches.
The paradigm is taking a new turn. Now, innovating scenarios blend in with society, environment and economic concerns – the 3 foundations of Sustainable Development. Eco-friendly transition is a key word in every aspects: circular economy, ecodesign, sustainable architecture, ecoresponsible agriculture, biomimicry, green technology… They all generate new creative figures and opportunities.

This Sustainable Design Management Master’s Degree is based on an educational core which stands on: understanding eco-issues at stake, giving tools for project management and being eco-design-creative.

Duration & terms of the course: This two-year course is entirely in English so that it can be accessible to an International and European audience. A field in which you need to think local and act global. Indeed, professionals and institutes dealing with environment issues are located in every region. Communicating and exchanging with these boards will require a perfect English.
This Master’s Degree is meant for undergraduate students who have already been in Arts, Design, Commerce, Management, Sciences or Engineering.

By the end of the course, expertise is earned: It is a preparation for artistic, creative and collective projects management in small and medium-sized local organisations, associations or institutions. It can also apply to local or international consulting firms or Development Departments in Innovative Sustainable Management.

Syllabus

This new transdisciplinary programme is based on both theoretical and practical knowledge. It’s also focused on creativity and skills to manage teamwork – praising collective minds.

Collaborative methods of pooling resources and know-how allow students to design, implement and monitor relevant and innovative eco-responsible projects.
Most of the classes are given through interactive workshops according to the credo « Learning by Doing ». Henceforward, students cowork in groups, for team projects, share their skills and knowledge, to help each other for a better food for thought.
This group work is based on the creation of collective minds’ production.
Emphasis is placed on the conception, implementation and monitoring of Global Design projects incorporating environmental issues. It works on a green approach to cutting-edge technologies, via thematic workshops and a thorough final project.

The theoretical part gives students the knowledge necessary to understand the challenges of Sustainable Development. It also provides analysis and project management tools, and allows students to acquire the intellectual maturity to tackle the complexity of environmental issues.

During the whole course, genuine innovative sustainable projects will be developped with partners (companies or key-players in the United Social Economy). Occasionally, Project-teams will be composed of students from other courses of the School (Graphic Design, Interior Design, Video Game) and from all grades. Students are also invited and encouraged in participating in team contests.
