Workshop of plastic awakening - Stories around the body in movement

As every year, our first year students in Bachelor’s Degree in Design experienced their first Workshop, this autumn, around the theme of artistic awakening.

This year, due to the health crisis, we divided this traditional workshop into two groups. One group of students carried out the Workshop from home in a Visio conference, and the second group in a face-to-face workshop at the school, respecting the sanitary measures.

The theme of the second workshop was « Stories about the body in movement ».

An exercise of plastic awakening conceived as « a mini laboratory of experiments of creative reactivity ».
This experiment allowed a mix between graphic and plastic expression as well as digital creation.

Supervised by several visual artists, the students objective was to show the evolution of the conception of beauty through time and cultures. Our students were challenged to tell the story of a human body in movement and did not lack creativity to explore different universes and express their ideas.

They began by researching and collecting images around the theme, artists and works from different periods in the history of art up to the present day.

They then had to divert these works by modifying or arranging their interpretation. The techniques were numerous: drawings, photos, collages, sculptures and digital prints.

By making them discover the richness of the different possible representation techniques, in the choice of colours, contrasts and narration, this week of workshops allowed our students to express and demonstrate their emerging talents in drawing and in graphic and plastic expression. This is a good omen for the future.
