2017 - Volumes - Workshop Bachelor's Degree in Global Sustainable Design

3rd year of Bachelor's Degree in Global Sustainable Design

The Bachelor's Degree in Global Sustainable Design's workshop was held from May 22 to 24, 2017, in cooperation with the Volumes Makerspace. Students worked on an air quality sensor.

Students were involved in the process from start to finish, from the designing of the sensor, to its drawing, its manufacturing at the Volumes Makerspace all the way to its integration into urban space, without forgetting to integrate data on participative websites!

To guide the students through their project, the workshop was led by their teachers Ignazio Mottola and Yves Daubert but also Evy Dutheil, an freelance designer who's very sensitive to sustainable design. There, they met Mikchael Arroyo, fab manager at Volumes. His support and expertise came in very handy during these three days when using the digital milling machine, the laser cutter and the 3D printers.

Students were divided in four groups to finalize their projects, encourage the exchange of skills and optimize task division so that radically diffent projects would emerge from a design standpoint but also by the materials they chose and the user experience they defined for the air quality sensor app.

The « Kaeli » air quality sensor, designed during the workshop by Pauline, Gwenaëlle, Piotr and Shuo was set up at Autograf. The sensor is currently working and you can visit the participative project's website (Luftdaten.info*) by clicking on this link in order to measure air pollution!
